IONAS
carved Oamaru stone sculpture
$780
This Oamaru stone carving was inspired by the fishing boat wrecks at Greenpoint Cemetery in Bluff; and at Salem Bay on the Island of Mull, in Scotland. The aging boats can be seen leaning against each other which speaks to the human journey as is apparent in the masculine and feminine, leaning in, respecting and supporting the other.
This piece is a celebration of community collaboration throughout our lives and the potentials we all have by being our balanced selves. The fishing boats are at the end of their working lives and Ionas also demonstrates that we are able to offer more than our working identity and highlights the warmth we all have within us to share.
